Obnoxious vacation countdown starts today

Now that it's February 1 (by 28 minutes at this writing), I'm going to start counting down the days until I'm on a plane to California for a mini-vacation. I'll be visiting as many friends as possible in about 2 full days. It'll be nuts. Every meal will be planned, and I think I will meet folks for coffee in between. Better start eating light, eh?

I leave on February 9th. Give me good weather, universe. Pretty please?

Meanwhile, back in the heartland, I have been stomach sick the last two days, which has made for some unpleasant work and life conditions. Me with a tender stomach = me without coffee. I have been tired, achy, and (you can figure out the rest). Good ol' stomach flu. It made teaching hard and working on my Shakespeare paper harder. But I've managed to make progress, and I figure I'll be done with the paper by the weekend. That would be good because I'll really need to grade all weekend. I get papers on Friday - again. Kill me.

That just means I'll have to celebrate the coming of vacation even more in my mind. I guarantee I will not be bringing papers with me to grade. Not a freaking chance. That will mean I'm going to be very busy in the next week or so. Okay. Bring it. I mean, I'm happy to have work, but I'll be even happier to have a couple of days off. In California. With friends. Huzzah!

I suppose I should try to get some sleep. Wednesday is one of those horribly long days... But it's a day I get to tick off my calendar. Eight more days!

Enjoy your expensive meals! I will be eating lots of expensive meals, too, but that's more about where I'm visiting than by choice. :)

Hope you enjoy your trip! It is good to know that there are still some people who look at their vacation with enthusiasm despite negative events. Hope your stomach flu won't ruin it for you.
